How are we unique? Union Institute and
University recognizes the demanding professional qualifications of law
enforcement and police personnel through a unique articulation agreement
which awards you 32 hours of college credit for your basic POST certificate.
Moreover, through our certified learning program it is possible to recognize
your advanced POST certified training through the certification of an
additional 30 units college credits. Most tenured police officers
begin our program with over 60 units and graduate with a BS in less than one
year. Dr. Harvey is an experienced college educator, currently serving as a professor at the University of Phoenix, and as a faculty advisor at the Union Institute and University. He has been published numerous times in national and international publications. He is a recognized expert in leadership and career development, and has served as an instructor in command leadership at the Los Angeles Police Department Academy. He has appeared as a leadership authority on television and radio, including the internationally-broadcast Bloomberg Business Television Show, and the nationally syndicated Joey Reynolds Radio Show. His first book, The Call to Lead: How Ordinary People Become Extraordinary Leaders, received national attention. The book shows the way for leaders toward ethical and competent leadership. Through his company, Andrew Harvey Seminars, he provides leadership training and consulting to individuals and organizations throughout the nation. His second book, Leadership: Texas Hold 'em Style is scheduled to publish in September 2007 Who are our instructors? Most of the criminal justice management degree instructors are retired police officers with stellar academic credentials. In the Los Angeles office there is over 100 years of police and law enforcement experience among the core faculty alone. Additional faculty consists of high-quality, part-time adjuncts who are full-time or retired practitioners like you; Your core course instructor not only knows the theory, but has done the job. The core course instructors specialize in all facets of the criminal justice management and the criminal justice system. Where and When does learning take place? Criminal Justice Management courses in the Arcadia program are taught at the Arcadia Police Department's state-of-the-art training facility and begin every eight weeks.
