My husband is planning to attend the S2 Institute in Clearwater Fl to obtain his Class D & G  Security licenses. Would it be beneficial to him to take a Criminal Justice course prior to or during his enrollment there? Or, since the CJ courses primarily focus on careers in Police or Sheriff Office positions, would it be a waste of 2 years that he could be on the job?

I think the immediate training for certification so that he can obtain a job in the industry is a good idea.  His next step depends on future goals - if he is going to pursue a career in law enforcement, a degree is certainly helpful.  Working full-time and going to school part-time is the solution most take.  If he is going to remain in the security field, and hopes to someday use his degree to advance within that field, a business degree might be more applicable.

A degree in CJ makes you familiarize with the various aspects of law obedience, making necessary alterations, various trials according to the case and inspection of crime scene. It'll cover every minute details that concerns with the providing of justice, case studies, law and order execution.

cjjustice provides a good take on it. If your husband's goal is a career in the security field, a mixture of criminal justice and business courses would be a good idea. This would be possible at an institution offering two year degrees that allow students to take elective courses, or, if he wants to work full-time and go to school part-time, pursuit of a four-year cj degree with a minor in business would suffice. Although a degree in cj is not necessary to work or succeed in the security field, for purposes of promotion and job satisfaction, I highly recommend obtaining at least an AA degree, with a minimum of coursework in criminal justice.
