For someone just starting a program of study in Criminal Justice, how do campus and online programs really compare when it comes to getting a job?

Accredition is the real issue. Make sure the program is regionally accredited. Secondly, some programs are geared toward criminal justice (the practical side) and other criminology (the academic side). If your goal is a career based on your BA in the CJ field, the practical side makes more sense. If, on the other hand, you are thinking about pursuing teaching, perhaps research, etc., the academic focused program may make more sense. Look at the catelog and talk to the program chair - get a sense of the program and its focus.
The delivery model (online or on ground) really doesn't matter - no one can tell how you went to school by looking at the transcript.

Online degree of earned from an accredited university is given equal importance as regular degree. The reputation and recognition of the university matters and it makes a huge difference while getting selected for job.

These days, college students have the choice to complete their education in ways which don't require always being on campus. Online courses are designed by college instructors and take place over the internet. They allow students to complete school according to their own work schedules. Another thing about online education is that the department of education issues accreditation to online schools. This aspect showcases that nowadays the education imparted via online schools is as good as given in traditional schools.

Online schools or colleges offer an education which is usually far more flexible than campus-based schools or colleges. In online schools or colleges teaching comprises of web casts, online tutorials and online tests. Under online process if you do not understand anything at the first time, you can go back over the session very easily.
