I am a criminology student at CSUFresno and I am working on a project for a crim course. I came across your name through a friend that said that you might be able to help me with the project. I am doing some research on probation in North Dakota, but I am having a hard time finding some answers to some questions. I was wondering, if you have any good search engines or websites that may be beneficial to me.

Thank you in advance for your time.

Start here at the NCJRS:

http://www.ncjrs.gov/abstractdb/search.asp

Use the search terms probation north Dakota, even through you have a very specific subject, there are five or so articles.  Now, they look like abstracts.  So, you can go over to the university online library and likely find full text.

Then,

Broaden your search at the same site, perhaps probation Dakota, leave out north, then substitute words like court, corrections, etc for probation, still focusing on ND.

Then go here:

http://www.ncjrs.gov/App/QA/SearchQA.aspx

use the question and answer search to see if there are any more things you can look at….now, the really cool part is when you scroll down….you can email specific questions to the NCJRS and a researcher WILL get back to you.

Also, try this

http://www.ndcommunityservice.org/

Good listing of the community service programs in that state.

Finally, you really should learn how to use the online library…I know CSUF has one…..use the Proquest and Ebschost databases, refine your search for “full text” and “peer reviewed”  Any articles you find under those circumstances will knock the socks of your criminal justice professor.

Good luck!
