Based on what I have learned in the Business, Government, and Society course, I will incorporate and pass on the importance of making ethical decisions and social responsibility. The ethical decisions are critical to law enforcement and social responsibility is important to the world.

| Tracey that is very important especially in our field of work. Ethical decisions and social responsibility is something that we can pass on to the officers we supervise. It was a pleasure working with you in class. You have a wealth of knowledge.

| Business, Government, and Society was a great course and I learned a lot. Most importantly, this course and the case studies brought validity to what I already believed. Ethics is very important and a great leader should always strive to be an excellent example for others to follow. Actions speak louder than words. I will continue to lead by example and guide and train the employees who I supervise as well as my counterparts.

| jsandoz, I concur that leading my example is the best way to supervise and focusing of ethical behavior is an important part of law enforcement.

This class proved valuable in multitude of ways. But, if I define the most or one of the most important points it would be the thought of the bifurcation ethics and law. Especially as we apply the law while executing our duties. If we apply this theory we will better understand what people do and may do under certain circumstances, and why they may be doing it. People from different societies and backgrounds, (ethnic, socioeconomic, national origin, etc.) act according to their makeup and experiences.
Regarding how I will employ this to my method of supervision. I will better realize that the concept above will better aid me in understanding how a subordinate will learn and internalize the directives I give. Moreover, I will be more adept at anticipating probable outcomes or employee reactions, to situations, which will help me direct employees in the right direction before a wrong decision proves detrimental to them or the organization.
Finally, I know that implementing change is directly related to the above concept and dictates how groups act, or better put, how an organizations culture is developed- for change to occur culture must be changed.

| jsandoz, it seems that the subject of "ethic" is recurring in these postings and you are correct we must lead by example. I do believe that merely taking this course we have set an example and certainly the tools we all have taken from this course will assist us in instilling ethics in out subordinates. Thank you for all of you insight and assistance throughout this class.

| Business, Government and Society was a very informative course that I beleive has made me a more effective public administrator. The final course project was about a government intervention at the local level and the topic could not have been any more relative then the current government intervention that is presently taking place. This project forced me to research budget cuts in the public service sector and to evaluate the possible unintended consequences of such actions. Ultimately, this project has prepared me for a very uncertain future within the public sector.

| David, you wrote about People from different societies and backgrounds, (ethnic, socioeconomic, national origin, etc.) act according to their makeup and experiences. I completely agree with you, different cultures and religons will act accordingly. By understanding this concept, we are that much more prepared to deal with outcomes of a different nature.

| Perserverance to never give up no matter how difficult or impossible the circumstances might be! Most of us in this CJM program have started late or already in progress of our careers which made it even more difficult to pursue but I think it translates out to what kind of people we are. The more specific the destiny or goal the more the fight is going to be on and you can count on it so you have to prepare yourself to succeed, especially when everything goes wrong because it will. Whether it is a bad guy or an impossible departmental task DON"T GIVE UP!

| Johnny this is supposed to be my terrorism posting but somehow the link is to this class. I will say this CJM program has done just that and helped prepare us for an uncertain public sector future by making us more valuable by giving us the tools to do a better job where we are at.
