Hello I am a student in criminal justice and we have to write a paper on rewards that may hinder the criminal justice system.  Can anyone help me out?  I researched quotas but I know there are other reward systems out there.  I do not work in the criminal justice field yet so the research is very hard.  I cant seem to find the information I am looking for.

Basically it has to do with the competing goals in the criminal justice system..

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated...

thanks.. brandy

While I am not certain what you are looking for, here are few links on the competing interests in CJ.

You might think about how goal of prevention of crime sometimes conflicts with the restortative justice model.  Or, look at how the goal of law enforcement is the apprehension of offenders whereas the goal of a prosecutor is the sucessful prosecution.  They don't seem to be different, but the individual interpretion of the actors may make the goals different.   Or, how does corrections whose goal is the incapacition of offenders conflict with the goal of parole, the re-integration of offenders into society.  Look at the different parts of the system - what are they trying to accomplish and you will see some subtle and some gross differences that often conflict if not geniuenly compete.

Brandy:    Just wondering if you got the information you needed for your paper.  Did you finish the paper yet?
