As of 1600 hrs, December 31st 2006 Eleven (11) Peace Officers in the state of California were killed in the line of duty with the California Highway Patrol suffering the most losses. This number is down from 18 in 2005. This according to the California Peace Officer Memorial Website. http://www.camemorial.org/
While one death is too many, hopefully the number will drop lower in 2007.

As of March 15, 2007 Peace Officers have been killed in the line of duty, hopefully this trend continues.
