| I had the opportunity to view the latest reality show "Armed and Famous". It's a show about "past stars" (Eric Estrada, Gary Coleman, and LaToya Jackson) who attend a police academy and then hit the street as real cops. If you caught the show, let me know what you thought about it. I thought it was making light of our careers. Because to be a cop it's either in you or not. You can't be hit up by a producer and asked to be one.

I,too, saw the "Armed and Famous" show. In the beginning they said the actors were "real" cops. I disagree, they have only had 3 weeks of training at an academy, and at best, this is not enough. I think this show is providing an unrealistic view. In LE there are regulations to becoming an officer-1.age 2. height 3. proper training.
This show keeps stressing that they have all been sworn in and are "real cops". Would anyone want them as partners????

You hit that on the head about regulations. I too found that a joke. I also found it interesting (a joke) how they got so sentimental about things. Don't get me wrong...it is important to have feeling (that's where the use of discretion comes) but you can over do it and it can cause you to mess up. Would I want one as a partner? Only if I was getting paid the amount they were back in the day....well, now that I think about it...no! You couldn't pay me enough.

I think this show depicts law enforcement wrong--- did you see the episode where the "recruit" actor takes a civilian in the patrol to buy roses and non-tear shampoo???
And they call this a "reality"show---seems to me this is far from reality.

| No, I didn't catch any of the other shows. It was bad enough having to choke down the season opener. Ya, going to buy roses and non-tearing shampoo is what I do on a weekly basis....NOT!!!

tc,
The good news is that the show has been cancelled---wooohoooo.
I think that the damage has been done already, I cannot tell you how many people have asked me about the show. They ask about age requirements, height, and "do all women wear as much make-up as Latoya?"
And the worst statement is "I had no idea it only takes 3 weeks of training to be a cop"and another problem was---were these actors grouped with FTO's???

Sorry for the late response, I have been super busy with "real police work" that I haven't had time to review my posts....or buy roses and shampoo.
I didn't know the show had been cancelled. NO LOSS. Like you said, "The damage has already been done".
