The National Institute of Justice has scheduled workshops related to upcoming revisions of standards on stab-resistant armor and protective helmets. NIJ and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) will jointly host both workshops, to be held on the NIST Campus in Gaithersburg, Md., in July 2011. Workshops are directed toward manufacturers, certification bodies and test laboratories.
The workshop focusing on the Stab-Resistant Body Armor Standard will be held on Thursday, July 14, from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. and the Protective Helmets Workshop will take place on Friday, July 15, from 9 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Participants are strongly encouraged to come prepared to ask questions and to voice suggestions and concerns. Space is limited to 50 participants for each event; organizations are limited to two representatives. Participants planning to attend are responsible for their own travel arrangements.
