Berkeley County Public Defender's Office, Monks Corner, SC, has announced it will have to shut down for two weeks due to budget cuts.  The county jail there is already overflowing with inmates awaiting trial.  Since this a rural community area, many of the inmates cannot afford an attorney.

So, no attorney+no trial=more jail overcrowing.  What do you do in this situation?

A very good question - does budget problems negate a persons right to a speedy trial?
