I was just wondering something. I've been working  corrections for six months now at a rural detention center. It's an ok job but there's also a lot of things that I can do without. Would you stick with corrections or move on to the road? Any advice to offer? Thanks and take care.

Its going to be a long career...you should enjoy it.  If I were you I would look into the various different types of jobs in criminal justice and try to find your passion in the system.  It may be in corrections and you just haven't given it long enough or seen the different career potentials..but, whatever you do, you should enjoy it.  Here is a hyperlink to the different types of CJ related jobs - it is an in-depth explanation of each job, the career paths, the earning potential, etc.  Explore it....also, there are several posts around the forum on moving departments etc.

Well, that job is one of the hardest on the planet.  As long as you can take it, I say keep it until you find something better. The good news is that you will always have a job waiting for you if you leave.  CA's jail system is only getting bigger, so the work will always be there if you need it.  But its up to you.

I agree with some of the others.  If your not happy then take a look at what other options you have.  I think if your wondering if you should stay says a lot.  You have a lot of options.

Good Luck,

jk
