I am doing a poll on Private Corrections and State Corrections.  Please be fair and considerate of both State and Private Organizations and do give your opinions in the corrections thread but please be tactful.:dude:

For the most part, state corrections has the edge as far as an employment opportunity. There are a few exceptions, most notably Oklahoma. That state's correctional employees would actually be better off working for private companies due to the substandard pay and benefits they receive.

My question would be, to what standard are the private corrections being held to.  With State Corrections, while sometimes the pay may not be as good, at least states have standards with regard to training, compliance with state law etc.  I know of on private corrections enterprise at the municpal level that caused several law suits for the city they were working for.  The people were not adequately trained, and the city was dinged for a few civil rights violations among others.  The city thought they were saving money, but ended out paying out more in law suits than the contract for the first 2 years with the company.
