Denise asks: I would like to know you views on the DCFS/CPS issues and taken kids from there parents wrongfully ???
My reply:
Greetings Denise - a very loaded question - certainly, children who are taken away wrongfully should be returned. But, I think you question is more general than that. Only those who experience the institutional and monolithic attitude of a government agency can understand the anger and frustration. Moreover, with DCS there are two 'flash point' issues. First, the State is messing with your children. Second, with DCS, as opposed to the standard American system of justice - you are guilty until proven innocent. That is a radical and hard to grasp concept - since they take the children away at allegation - you are punished before a hearing - you are already presumed guilty. Now, this is done under the banner of "child safety," however, it still loads the system against the parent. Even presuming that the lion's share of DCS workers are competent and caring (and, there is no assurance of this), they are enabling a system designed to create conflict. Lastly, for anyone reading this - enjoy general questions and answer most - but don’t address individual cases.
