I think you hit the nail on the head.  The main reason I enjoy night courses so much is because the majority of the professors are actual practitioners not theorists.  It makes sense to learn about a subject from someone who is currently involved in it, not someone removed and only has a theoretical knowledge of the subject.

I learned there is another world beyond what i thought existed in computer crimes.  At times, it seems overwhelming when one considers the knowledge and techonolgy some of these criminals are capable of with a computer and online connection.  I can barely set up a home wireless network woth step by step instructions let along go after a riminal who has set up internal worms and logic bombs and sniffers behind the scenes of the operating system.

This course has helped me understand more fo the aspects of identity theft and fraud and therefore am able to relate to victims better than before and give them some more feedback on what is happening, and even more important, I may be more likely able to give them an answer of WHY this is happening to them.  Computers are the essential presently and surely will be even more essential in the future.  As they become omre complex, our training and expertise becomes more complex.  High tech crime / Computer crimes desk at police departments is fast becoming a desk which you dont rotate out of every 3 years, as there is so much specialized training and expertise needed to understand how to find and prosecute these types of criminals.
