Edward Byrne Memorial Discretionary Grants Program

Deadline: All applications are due by 8:00 p.m. e.t. on June 25, 2007.

 

The Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) has recently announced the release of the FY 2007 grant announcement for the Edward Byrne Memorial Discretionary Grants Program. This Program helps local communities improve the capacity of local justice systems and provides for national support efforts including training and technical assistance programs strategically targeted to address local needs. Funds can be used for demonstration, replication, expansion, enhancement, training, and/or technical assistance programs.

 

In FY 2007, the Edward Byrne Memorial Discretionary Grants Program will focus on funding local, regional, and national efforts within six major categories. Applicants are encouraged to visit BJA's web site (http://www.ojp.usdoj.gov/BJA/) to review efforts funded to date and to identify gaps in current efforts and future needs.

 

Award Categories:

Category I: Targeting Violent Crime

Category II: Preventing Crime and Drug Abuse

Category III: Enhancing Local Law Enforcement

Category IV: Enhancing Local Courts

Category V: Enhancing Local Corrections and Offender Reentry

Category VI: Facilitating Justice Information Sharing
