Hello K-97

Things are little tighter but we now have more people from different agencies interested in what is going on with the rails. The truth is not many people outside of the industry have a clue as to what we do and how we do it. I guess that is why it is specialized but many of the old heads as they call them are retiring. We are scrambling to preserve the knowledge these officers have from many years of service that you can't learn in a book or classroom.

Robert,

I'm with Irwindale Pd. I hope to teach, consult, or use my experience to help officers in use of force suits as a use of force expert. Lawyers always are looking to take a piece out of the patrol boys (girls).

:) Hi Dan I'm Chestrina hope your courses are going well I was wondering what does the use of force suits actually protect against and what type of resistance material is it made of. Your job sounds interesting.

Hi Chestrina, I'm Dan. In reply to your question the "suit" I was referring to is a civil or criminal "suit". I would like to be able to help officers who are involved in either a civil or criminal action as the result of the deployment of "Less Than Lethal " force options. Officers seem to be on the short end of litigation even though they are found to be within policy and justified in their actions. On another note, I have done some  testing on "bullet proof vests", these vests are made up of Kevlar and a combination of other hybrid materials all quilted  or sewn together just like blankets used to be made years ago. I hope your studies are going well, thanks for the interest.

Hey K97, I got your note about Raymond, I work with him on  weekend B watch. He's a good man and a better friend. He and Alpha don't work together anymore. Alpha got too old so they retired him to Ray's back yard.  It sure is a small world !!!    Good luck in your studies...........be safe out there  .....Dan

Hi Mike!! I'm Robert. While reading your 1st message, I noticed that you were a k-9 officer at one time. I was wondering if you ever considered working in the private sector with bomb k-9s. I keep getting offers by promoters to work special events. However, I don't own my own k-9, it belongs to the city. I guess I'm contemplating the idea of running my own dog after retirement. What are your thoughts on this kind of business?

                                           Stay safe!!!  Robert...

Hello Everyone,

My name is John. I am a retired (early) police officer from Orange County. I did twenty years and worked a variety of assignments. I am currently working as a fraud investigator, investigating various types of workers' compensation fraud for a variety of insurance company's.

I am with UI&U to finish up on my degree and see what type of doors it might open for me in the future. I look forward to getting to know more people through my time here at UI&U.

Good Luck! to all of us.

John

Hi Brian,

The nice thing about working for LAPD is that it is so large you can work a large variety of assignments and areas. You are quite correct when you say having a degree will move you up the ladder. Best of luck to ya!

Hello  Verdana,

My name is Vahid, I have been a Reserve police officer for the last 8 plus years. The last four years of that I have been a fulltime police officer.  I am looking forward in achieving a BA degree in Criminal Justice management.  I have worked a majority of different assignments, and have enjoyed the variety of experiences that law enforcement has to offer.  I just now figured out how to use this online system.  Or at least I think I figured it out?  Hence this is why I am starting so late in the semester. I’m registered in Raymond E. Foster’s class computer forensics.

My name is Vanessa and I am very interested in becoming a Crime Scene Investigator--NO, not because of the TV show.  I was into Court TV's Forensic Files, I-Detective, etc. waaaaaay before CSI:Vegas came to TV.

I find how the human body react to trauma is very fascinating...I have seen many case photos.

One fact about me is that I own a cat that is 38 inches from the tip of his nose to the tip of his tail, he weighs about 16LBS and when his paws are relaxed they are 2 inches wide.  His name is Sir Britain.

V!
