This is the introduction thread for students in the following courses:

All Union Institute and University Fall 2009

(Includes Session I, Session II and Semester Learners)

You must make two posts to receive full credit.

First, introduce yourself.  Remember, this is an open source forum that many people read.  In general, what is your current job, the current course you are taking, your educational goals; and, what do you expect from this course.  Second, once you have posted, read the other students posts, reply to at least one.

I am a Sergeant with the LAPD.  I am looking to complete my degree in Criminal Justice Management.  I have finished all my on-the- ground courses and are finishing up with a few tutorials.  I can say it goea by fast and is well worth the investment.

Hello, I am a Sgt for Gardena PD, currently assigned to the detective bureau. I am the epitome of the"late bloomer", starting my college education at 48 years of age. It has been worth it thus far. Like many of you, I would like to promote in order to benifit my department and it's mission.

Hello, my name is Jenny.  I currently work for the Los Angles County Probation Department as a Detention Services Officer.  Right now I am taking two classes with Professor Foster, CJM 410-Criminal Justice Management Information Systems and The terrorism class.  I plan on passing these two courses so I can receive my degree on February.  So far everything is going great!

Yes it is!  I can honestly say that my money is going into some GOOD use.  I just wish I would've done this earlier, but better late than never!!!

Hello my name is Joseph,

I'm a police officer for the Los Angeles Port Police and currently assigned to the Dive/Sonar unit.  I'm working towards my Bachelors degree in criminal justice.

Much of my job training relates directly to terrorism.  The Port of L.A. is certainly on the "watch list" as a hard target for a terrorist attack.  Thus, I look forward to learning more about behaviors, tendancies, ideologies and everything else this course offers which can help me do my job better.

good luck!

I certainly agree with you. I am glad I chose Union Institute and University to complete my Bachelors as well.  I'm also on the same boat as you. I have one more tutorial and one on site class left and I should be done.

Hello everyone my name is Jesus,
I am currently working at Central Juvenile Hall as a Detention Service Officer. I decide to further my education so that I could promote within the department and have my options open. I am also currently enrolled in The Role of Criminal Justice in Terrorism. I hope to gain a better understanding of some of these terrorist groups.

Hello,

I am a sergeant with a local California law enforcement agency.  I am completing my bachelors degree and will pursue a masters degree.  I am currently assigned to the training division and I am responsible for providing training throughout the state of California.  I have over twenty years of experience, and I hope to promote to lieutenant in the near future.  I hope to learn some new technology tips such as this exercise that is out of my area of experience.

Hello,

I am a sergeant with Monterey Park PD. Currently I am enrolled in Management of Criminal Justice Information Systems as part of working towards my bachelor's degree. I expect this course will help me to understand the managing and processing of the vast amounts of information we accumulate in our field.
