I agree there are not many males in the victimology option. Is there any particular reason you choose victimology over say law enforcemnt?

| My name is Ana and I am in the afternoon class. I am interested in obtaining a job with a federal law enforcement agency after receiving my master's degree in either psychology or criminal justice. I plan to graduate next Fall (fingers cross). I am interested in broadening my awareness in regards to ethics and the proper responses to sensitive issues.

I have taken PLSI 2, PLSI 171 which is Constitutional Law with Dr. Abosch and is the class I've ever taken. I am currently enrolled in International Law which is 126, and it seems interesting so far, but I will let you know how it really is at the end of the semester if you want Personally, I think government and law is always interesting, so this is just what I'm into. It's not for everybody though, I suppose. It won't hurt to try a couple classes. Look at the catalog and see what might be interesting to you- that's what I did.

| Oh crud, I'm an idiot.. Instead of writing about philosophy I went on for forever about Poli Sci... SORRY.. My favorite classes so far in the Philsophy department are 101- ancient philosophy, 45- Intro to logic, which is really like math, 120- moral issues or something like that. Again, I would just pick a class that seems interesting to you and go for it, you can always drop it if you think you're going to suffer through it.

| I agree. In today's society men are tought to be tough, and not to take anything from anyone. So as a result we all want to go into a career were there is action. I think that a male going into Victimology is good. Sometimes there are issues that other males need to talk about hat cannot be delt with by females.

| Hey Debbie! I don't know if an ethics class is mandatoory for all majors, but considering the field that we plan on entering, and considering that the majority of the people studying criminology desire to get into some sort of law enforcement related field, i believe an ethics class is a good idea. Albeit, one should hope we don't need an ethics class to "learn" ethical behavior, but perhaps to reinforce it and remind us of the fact that we must maintain higher standards of behavior then much of society. When considering some of these sometimes mundane requirements, I try to remember that we are aspiring to maintain and progress our good standing in society.

Hi Marin! Well for one, the Sheriff's Academy was great! They have a very efficient program, with very practical and obviously beneficial training. The thing that I appreciated the most was the wide range of (very qualified) instructors, and the insane amount of discipline that the RTOs instill. As for the negative parts, I'd say just be careful of who you take as friends, not everyone is out to be friendly, even though we all have similar goals.
It was definitely one of the more challenging endeavors that I have undertaken, and one that I can see the benefits of every single day, both in training at a professional level as well as personal and day to day life.
Are you considering going through an academy? If so, which one? What other kind of feedback have you gotten from other people who have been through a similar program? Talk to you soon!

My name is Kory Robinson. I am a Criminology major with the Law Enforcement option. I am also getting a certificate in Alcohol and Drug Studies. I am a junior and I am graduating early!! I would like to get my Masters in Criminology and I am thinking of attending Sam Houston in Texas. I would like to eventually work for the Department of Justice but I am not sure what exactly I would like to specialize in.
I am in the morning section. 9:30 to 10:45am.
I expect to learn a lot about professionalism in Criminal Justice. I also expect it to be a fun class with exciting material!!
