Hello everyone I have been in law enforcement for just over ten years and currently work for a department in the Inland Empire. I am currently taking Terrorism and Criminal Justice class. I plan to obtain my BA in Criminal Justice and possibly teach in the future. I hope to gain a better understanding of terrorism in general and how to combat it.

Hello everyone,

I have been a police officer in the Inland Empire for about 10 years now. I have about 30 units left until I earn my degree. I am currently assigned to patrol as an FTO. I am currently taking Terrorism and Criminal Justice, Supervision in Criminal Justice, and a Humanities class. I look forward to learning more about terrorism since it is one of the biggest issues affecting law enforcement and the world today.

Hi Ramos,

It sounds like we have alot of similarities. Are you still humping the streets too? Rumor has it that I might be going to the DB in a couple of months. I'm ready for the change. I've been pushing that black and white around a long time now. Take care!

Hi Ransfeld,

Yes we do share many things in common including the FTO part. Glad to hear about your possible move to the DB, as for me its graveyard patrol.

Hello,

I am attending Union at the Moorpark College extension and I am currently enrolled in the Criminal Justice Supervision course.  I have about 14 years of law enforcement experience and currently work in Camarillo (Ventura County).  I am at the halfway point for obtaining a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice.  My goal for this course is to broaden and strengthen my supervision skills.

My name is Robert. I am a first time Union student working on my Bachelor's degree. I am attending two Union courses at Moorpark College with a Criminal Justice major. I am currently taking a criminal justice supervision course and a terrorism course. I have been out of college for about 12 years. I am currently a Sergeant for a Ventura County law enforcement agency where I have been employed for 20 years. Half my career has been in patrol and the other half has been in various investigation assignments. In investigations, I have worked narcotics, property crimes, forgery and major crimes. I currently supervise a plain clothes unit, which targets gangs, street level narcotics and graffiti violations.

Hi Robert,

I am looking forward to working with you in this class.  I don't think I have much to pass on to you at this point, we'll just have to work together and get through it.  I am also taking an english class online, a lot of writing.  Worked on the supervision class assignments for this Friday and got them done, I'll send you what I did.  I still haven't looked up the books we need to read for the book report.  Talk to you later.

Hi Everyone,

I am Richard Lozano. This is my second semester here at Union and I am taking two courses-Supervision and Terrorism. I joined LAPD 15 years ago and I am currently working as a Sergeant out of Foothill Division. I am scheduled to graduate with a BA next summer and then plan to take the Lieutenant's Exam. Being a Supervisor, I am hoping that the Supervision course will assist me with my daily duties and enhance my work performance. As for the Terrorism course, since law enforcement is one of the first responders, I am hoping to gain as much information as possible on the subject, especially in the event that anything should ever happen to the City of Los Angeles.

Hello,

My name is Bob Eckman.  I'm a detective with the Oxnard Police Department.  I have my advanced POST certification with about 2000 POST/law enforcement training hours.   I'm currently assigned to a multi-agency task force, so I'm working about 50 to 55 hours a week (which means no life).  I'm a single parent with two boys who take up any remaining time.  I have my AA (Liberal Arts) and an AS in Criminal Justice.  I obtained those because I normally like school.  Unfortunately, I kept taking all lower division classes (I'm up to about 170 units now).  I guess it's time to pursue my BA now.  I actually started this effort twice, once with University of LaVerne but couldn't attend due to schedule conflict and a second time with UCLB (took 3 classes before they cancelled/postponed their off-campus program).  So, it's nice to see that Union has a more flexible environment.  I just finished my first two classes with Union and look forward to the next.

Hello,

Apparently I can't follow instructions since I singed in differently than everyone else. Can't figure out how to change my login name. Anyways, my name is Thomas Meyer and I'm currently a Narcotics Detective with the Simi Valley Police Deparmtent. I've have about 14 years on the job with four in patrol, four in a specialized unit, two on motors and about four in narcs. This is my last session for my Bachelors and hoping to complete it.

Well, so far it looks like all of us have been in law enforcement for about 10-20 years. I guess that says something good about the field, huh?...and about us, too.

Hey Bob, I agree with you about figuring out this forum thing. I'm not very computer savvy, so I must say, I was quite impressed with myself! (ok, I cheated, I got a little help from my girlfriend!)

I figured out the library (after a few trial & errors), so if anyone needs help just let me know.

Hey everybody, my name is Brian Murray.  I currently work for Simi Valley PD and have been there for the past 9 years.  I'm currently assigned to patrol as an FTO like a few of the others are that have posted here.  This is my third session with Union and I'm taking the Supervision class and a math class.

I'm not quite sure how the logins work either....each time I just go to my old email message and click on the link.  Tomorrow we can get an update/refresher.

Thanks, I'll see you tomorrow.   The website research for the Terrorism class was very time-consuming but there were a lot of interesting sites.  It will be nice to get the compilation at the end of the class.  I'm still working on the Supevision assignment.

Hi Everyone,

My name is John. I am currently assigned to patrol with the Oxnard Police Department. I have been in Law Enforcement for almost seven years.  I am currently enrolled in  Computer Crimes and Violence and Terrorism.  These are my first classes in an effort to complete my BA in Criminal Justice after a long absence.  I am hoping to better understand terrorism and how terrorist organizations function.  Computer Crimes are fast becoming one of the most often crimes we deal with and I am hoping to learn more about how these crimes are being committed and how we, as Law Enforcement, can combat this growing epidemic.

Hello everyone,

My name is Ryan, I've been a police officer for the city of Oxnard for about six years. I've been an FTO for two years and currently assiged to Youth Services. It seems most of my classmates at Union/Moorpark have manny years of experiance in Law Enforcement. I hope to learn as much as I can, from the classes that I'm taking and my classmates. I'm in the second session at Union, working towards my Bachelos Degree in Criminal Justice. I am currently taking Terrorism/Criminal Justice, Supervision in Criminal Justice.
