Hello,

Well thanks to my outstanding caveman skills, I think I finally figured out how to post my introduction. My name is Luis and am currently a full time student at Cal State Fullerton working on my BA degree in Criminal Justice. I am also a Police Officer for the City of Long Beach where I have a mere two years of experience out on Patrol. I find myself learning something new everyday and am excited in returning back to school after taking an extended leave of abscense to attend the police academy and pass probation.

Even after receiving extensive training in law enforcement, I find it that there is still a lot to learn.

Hello all!   :D   Well now that i feel completely lame for being probably the last person to enter their Intro discussion, i will delight you all with my personal information.

I am currently a 5th year senior at Cal. State Fullerton. I originally went to U.C., Riverside and was in the BIO. Med. Program (Pre-Med) and transfered over here to Fullerton about a year ago. I am finishing my BA in Criminal Justice and my BS in Bio. Chemistry. I will be graduating this spring!!! Thank the LORD!!!

I am taking Foster's CJ 315 class, obviously, and a few other classes that are keeping me quite busy. Right now i am the Vice President of Fullerton's Criminal Justice Honors Society, Alpa Phi Sigma, and i really love it....if anyone has any question about that feel free to ask...i would love to give you any info. or help you join....we are planning a VEGAS trip after all!!

Anyways, my career goals are to become a Coroner, hopefully with San Bernardino County Sheriff Coroner's Division. I have wanted to be a coroner since i was in the 7th grade (which was way before the whole CSI craze) and have been in connection with the SBSD for years while i worked on my degree so that i can finally get a good job there.

Right now i am in the transition of working for a bank (which i have been at for a year) and for my parent's (they own Gas stations) as a manager. This is kind of funny since neither are related to what i want to do, but i have to pay the bills some how, right? I also tutor high school students during the week and i bartend private parties on the weekends...when i get calls...so if anyone needs a fun bartender give me a call!!!

I think that is enough for now (probably more of an over-share huh?) but if any of you have questions please feel free to ask. Take care everyone and good luck this semester!!

;)   Blessings, Diana Ramey

Hey all,
I suppose its better late than never to do the introduction.

I'm Matt and I'm in the thursday night CJ315 class.  Its my second semester as a Titan after transferring in from Mt.Sac.  My major is criminal justice, and I plan on being a lawyer.

I work at a golf course part-time, although Golf takes up a majority of my time aside from school.  I play golf about 3-4 times a week, and am working on joining the Professional Golfers of America (PGA).

Sometimes I like smelling freshly installed carpet.

Its an addiction i'm working on in many 12-step programs.

-Matt

Hi all! I work at an elementary school in Buena Park. I am an educational assistant working with autistic children from second to sixth grades. We have 9 in the room in work out of. they are some of the higher functioning ones. There is another room next door that has 6 lower functioning non-verbale kids in there also. I am currently taking the enforcement function. I'm working on my bachelors in criminal justice. I have high hopes for this class because most of the teachers I've had up to now seem a lot wierd. Mr. foster seems to be normal and knowledgable on the subject matter. I'm looking forward to taking this class.

Hey Matt!

LOL...boy do i love that question! Well no, not really. When the CSI shows first came out i tried to watch them but they were so bad and so unrealistic that i just couldn't stand them.....Now, however, my Fiance and his Mom have been into them for a few years and have always asked me questions about the shows and what they saw and what is true and what isn't. So i started watching the shows with them and literally drove them both crazy because i would seriousy pick the show apart as i watched it with them and they would get mad cause they couldn't "enjoy" it.....now i can sometimes watch them but i try to keep my mouth shut and i try to concentrate on the drama and character parts instead. Although, i do have to admit that they have all gotten better through the years and aren't as bad and unrealistic as they use to be. Is that an explaination or what?

So, now we need to conquer this carpet smelling addiction you admitted to having.....all i have to say is that the first step is admitting you have a problem!...hahaha

Thanx for the reply...talk to you later

Diana

Hello everyone,

My name is Yvonne.  I am a General Merchandise Operations Specialist.  I've worked in the grocery business for 25 years and thoroughly enjoyed it.  I am currently enrolled in the Enforcement Function class and am working towards a BA in criminal justice.  CJ is a subject that I have been interested in for years.  When I was younger, I wanted to be a prosecutor.  By the time I finish receiving my BA, I may be walking around with a cane. :D

Hey bwong,

I just laughed when I saw your comments about lack of computer knowledge.  My daughter got me into this session this evening.  I use the computers at work and only do what is necessary on them to fulfill my job needs.  When I walk in the door and come home, if I need to use the computer for school, my daughter logs me on and types for me.  It's so interesting to read comments from others about the same computer troubles we have in our lives.  Could it be an age thing? :D

Hey, just wondering how you liked the classes.  We are almost done with this one and will be starting the next one soon.  I just completed my last book report.  Let me know how you liked the classes and what the work was like.

Almost done, just trying to stay focused.  As long as I am able to keep up with the work, it is fine.  I just have to make the time to do it.  I think you will enjoy the classes they provide.  If you ever have any questions, give me a call.  I will be checking this chat room often.

Hello everyone, I have been in the legal field previously and am pursuing my masters of science degree in Administration of Justice and Security.  I am finding that it is quite difficult to transition into criminal justice.  I have been completing constant federal government agency online applications since November of last year.  I want to work in intelligence, however, there seems to be a barrier for me given the fact that I have not worked previously in law enforcement or served in the military.  I am therefore applying to California state employment and examining law enforcement positions as a way to gain entry to intelligence field.  My family is non-supportive of this fact and has ridiculed me saying why did you expend all of this time and money to obtain a masters degree to ultimately work as a police or correctional officer.  It is frustrating but I am hopeful that this has not been a frivolous action but I am beginning to get discouraged.  I have to finish this degree and I am hopeful that it will payoff.  I hope that I read on this forum some success stories of people transitioning into criminal justice from another field.
