Hi, everyone my name is Debbie Smith and I am currently a Junior at Cal State Fullerton. I currently reside in Riverside,Ca with my beautiful 12 year old daughter. I am double majoring in Criminal Justice and Sociology. I am currently taking CJ385, CJ 345, SOC. 410, SOC 302, and POL 100. Hopefully I will be graduating in June 09, the same time my daughter will be graduating from Junior High. Currently I am working in the corporate office for a local construction company.  If everything  pans out okay, I hope to be an Investigator for DPSS. I expect to learn a lot from this course like how minorities are treated in the Criminal Justice System and the perspectives that others have when dealing with minorities being treated unfairly.

I agree that the lecture on stereotypes was very interesting. Im sure the class will get into very heated debates over racial issues, which will make it very interesting. Oh, hey dont worry about taking a very full load, you will do fine. Good Luck.

Hi my name is Huy Nguyen. I am a senior at Cal State Fullerton majoring in Criminal Justice. I currently work for a local Orange County police department as a Reserve Police Officer. I have been with the department for about seven years. I started off as an Explorer, Cadet, and now working part time as a Reserve. Working part time as a Reserve has been very beneficial towards balancing school and gaining experience in the field of Law Enforcement. After I complete achieve my BA in December, I plan on traveling around Europe and when I return I look forward to attending a full-time police academy.
With this course in Minorities and the Criminal Justice System, I look forward to learning about how much influence law enforcement has upon the different minority groups. The first lecture we had I thought was quite an experience, definitely shows how much one single topic can be open to an array of debatable discussions. I have heard highly about Professor Foster and look forward to an adventurous semester.

Hi Alesha. Congratulations on the upcoming baby. It is nice that we have Gangs and Minorities and Crime together. This semester should be quite an adventure. Just one semester to go!! But I definitely praise individuals as yourself. You truly set the example of "you can achieve anything that you put your mind to." No matter if you are working full time, have kids, etc... You can still strive to the fullest potential no matter what.

Hi Adrienne. It is good to see that you were able to add the class. Good luck on your internship. Internships definitely opens your eyes to the various careers out there. A positive note to it is that if you enjoy the site you are at, their is a high possibility that the company, department, etc. will offer you a job there. See you in class!

Hey Adrienne looks we are both trying to get out of CSUF Spring '08. I also thought the stereotype lecture was very interesting. It really caught my attention and made me really think about what goes on in our heads when we pre-judge each other. Im also taking 15 units. Goodluck on life and im pretty sure once u find your niche you'll know it.

Hello everyone! My name is Santina Robles and I am a junior at Cal State Fullerton majoring in Criminal Justice. This is my first semester of actually taking CJ courses, therefore giving me little knowledge about the subject. I am planning on taking in all of the information provided in order to give me a better understanding of the field in which I am about to enter. I am currently a server at Lucille's in Brea, so if you like BBQ come visit:) With my degree as a Criminal Justice major, I would like to either be a Probation Officer or go into forensics, but it's still up in the air.

Hi Constance! I just wanted to say congratulations on finishing your BS requirments for Chem. When I fisrt entered college I was a Chem major, but I realized that I didn't have the dedication I needed to be succesful with it. It's a very challenging subject if you don't stay focused. Well good luck going into forensics!

Currently I run my father's liquor store. Some would say it is an easy job but i can tell you it is not. I am a fifth year senior at CSUF and hopping to be done by may 2008. My goal is to go into law or probation.  I will be taking the LSAT next year so that will determine whether I stick with law or doing soming else related to law enforcement.

In order to go into forensics do you need a lot of chemistry?

I have worked in property management for the last nine years in Irvine.  I very much enjoy what I do as I manage a 604 unit apartment complex with a staff of 15 people working under my supervision.

After growing up in Long Beach, and briefly working with LBPD, I find the environment in Irvine much more appealing to raise my family.

I have a handle full of classes left to complete my degree and I am merely finishing what I started a long time ago.

Hello,

I'm an officer with eight years experience and work for an agency in the San Gabriel Valley. I'm in my third session at UI&U and currently enrolled in Computer Crime. I hope to obtain my B.A. in April of 08, and gain more knowledge in regard to internet crimes.

Hi Samantha,

My name is Jim and I have been a Deputy Sheriff for 23 years.  I am on my last two classes with Union institute and will graduate in October.  Better late than never.  I was very interested in your desire to work at the Coroners office.  That takes a very special person and is a fascinating job.  Previously I worked homicide investigations and had my share of trips to the coroners office and have always admired the work the coroners have done.  Good luck with your studies.

Daniel good luck with your studies.  Everybody in Law enforcement is looking for people right now so it is a good time to get started.  Look around, there are a lot of good agencies out there. - Jim
