Hello there, my name is Vanessa and I am a junior CJ major here at CSUF. I hope this CJ385 does not seem as difficult as it sounds. I work full time for LBUSD as a campus security officer for a high school on the westside of Long Beach. I recognize some of you from my other classes so it looks as if we are surviving the work and school life. I actually have a unique background whereas I worked for about 13 years in retail investigations conducting both internal and external investigations along with check and credit card fraud. I also worked for OC Probation as a Probation Couselor (which I loved) prior to going to the school district. Right now I am at a school that has alot of gang activity both on and off campus, deal directly with both the special educational needs and high risk/emotional disturbed students. I have been at my current job for 12 years but am interested in maybe moving to a police department in a statistical or analytical type position.         I think its time for a desk job. :P

My name is Tim, I guess we in the same boat. I have been in law enforcement for 24 years, not much lon ger than you. Im in a Narcotics task force, which In my opinion is the best assignment. I have been a property investigator, Persons (Robbery, assult, Homicide) Investigator and now Narcotics. I love my job. I Have dedicated myself to my work and family but neglected my education. I am happy where I am at but if I want to promote above Sergeant I will need to complete my Education.

Hey Samantha,

Good to see you again in class. I don't know how you do it with 18units, a full time job and two kids. Best of luck with the LA Coroner. My goddaughter is interested in Forensics and is hopefully planning on going to Southeastern Lousianna next year to start her studies.

Hello, I am employed as a police officer in one of the agencies in Ventura County.  I have been employed there for about six years.  I lateraled from another agency, where I had four years.  I currently work as a storefront officer and enjoy it. I have had the opportunity to work different assignment during my time and have gained experience in everyone.  I am currently looking to receive a BS degree in this field to help in my future.

You must make two posts to receive full credit.  First, introduce yourself.  Remember, this is an open source forum that many people read.  In general, what is your current job, the current course you are taking, your educational goals; and, what do you expect from this course.  Second, once you have posted, read the other students posts, reply to at least one.

Hello everyone, My name is Elias Arroyo. I am currently employed by an international financial institution. I am also a Special Officer for the town of Hackensack, NJ. I'm new to the online courses as I do attend Berkeley college Newark Campus, but I am also taking online courses because my schedule has limited me. The course I am taking now is called Computer Applications in Criminal Justice. I expect to learn the role technology plays in law enforcement as I myself am a Special Officer that must know and will have to rely on technology to perform my duties. Through this course I want to gain an understanding of the do's and don't's of technology in law enforcement. As for educational goals, I plan to become a police officer and eventually piggy back of off that and move on to bigger better opportunities in any of the US's federal law enforcement agencies.

Hey Garbriela, I also go to Berkeley also. I attend the campus in Newark. I saw you were interested in the FBI. Did you knowe that several blocks away from the Berkeley college in Newark the FBI houses one of their head quarters?

Congratulations!! So many people believe that life stops after you have children. I think it's very commendable that you're majoring in two subjects. That shows a lot of hard work and dedication aside from your full time job of being a mom. Good Luck!!!

Hi. My name is Laceine Richardson. I previously graduated from Berkeley College with my Associates degree in Paralegal Studies. I returned to Berkeley last Winter Quarter so this is my fourth quarter back. I don't really know what to call my level at Berkeley but since I won't be done for at least another year, I guess you can call me a junior. I originally came back to Berkeley for my Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration but soon realized that I wasn’t going to be interested in the courses being offered in that degree so as soon as Berkeley offered a the Bachelor’s degree program in Criminal Justice I knew that was for me. I love to learn new things, especially anything that has to do with law and I hope to gain knowledge in this course as I always have with any course I’ve ever taken at Berkeley. I currently work for a real estate firm which has nothing to do with Criminal Justice, but I can't wait for my internship. I look forward to communicating with all of you for twelve weeks and good luck to everyone.

Hi to everyone,

My name is Diane Sarno & this is my 3rd quarter at Berkeley.  I'm majoring in Criminal Justice; although, I'm not completely sure what I want to end up doing.  I currently work as a medical biller for a small billng & collections company in NJ.  I love what I do, but I have always been so interested in the law that I decided it was time to get back in school & get my degree in what really interests me.  And so far I'm loving every minute of it.

Good luck to you all in whatever dreams you choose to follow!!
