I just wanted to take a minute to introduce myself.  I currently work in corrections and have been doing so for the past 7 years.  My main job for the past 6 years has been dealing with the gang members that come through our facility.  For the past 3 months I have also been serving as training officer for the facility.  I also work part-time doing campus security for a local college and have been doing that for the past 9 years.  I've been a reserve police officer and a volunteer firefighter.  I'm looking forward to interacting with everyone and think some good, useful information will be shared.

How big is the facility you work in?  I have to imagine that segragating and classifying gang memebers in a custody envoronment would be a challenge, given the fact that everyone in custody is not from the same geographical area.

The facility I work in currently is very small.  Our maximum number is 48, so that does present a large challenge.  The biggest challenge is that one dorm is specifically for women while the other 2 are for men, so sometimes we have to put "homies" in the same dorm together.  Luckily, we haven't had any major problems with the homies banning together to try to run the dorm.

I am leaving this facility the 28th of this month and moving to a new one.  I will be going to a 3,000 bed facility.  The max number of people my current facility holds will now be the maximum number held in one housing unit at the new facility.
