The question of campus security goes far beyond lock downs and increased patrols. The 2007 National Campus Security Summit, to be held May 30 on the campus of the University of Central Oklahoma, in Edmond, Oklahoma, will take a deeper look at security challenges while offering actionable ideas and setting aside conventional wisdom.

“After the Virginia Tech shootings the spotlight is shining squarely on every college president and senior campus administrator in this country,” said UCO President Roger Webb, “This National Campus Security Summit will address all the issues and not just the ones making the headlines.”

“This is all about practical ideas, affordable ideas that will improve protection while maintaining an environment of openness,” said Donald R. Hamilton, MIPT Executive Director.

The one-day Summit is being hosted by UCO, the Memorial Institute for the Prevention of Terrorism (MIPT), the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education and the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU).
