Thanks to everyone who contacted me offline re the above. As you can see I am hale and hearty. If I can answer all the various questions here it might allow everyone to share the information. In Scotland we were quite complacent because, although the IRa had been bombing the British mainland since the 1960s, no attacks took place in Scotland because both sides had too much financial and practical support in the West of Scotland. As far as the new wave terrorism is concerned, this attack does not appear to fit the usual pattern. None of the suspects are British, all coming from Middle Eastern countries, and at least two of the apprehended suspects are hospital doctors. In the past our threat came from 'within' from disaffected second or third generation muslims who were unemployed, students etc. My own view is that the planning took place here and is the work of a UK cell but the actual bombers were brought in as untracable clean skins. Obviously there is a lot of confusion and the press are printing unsubstantiated stories so anything we hear could be nonsense. The fact that members of the public tackled the bombers and they were apprehended has led to a lot of good leads.
