The thing that I am most grateful for in my learning experience is the growth I have attained throughout the process.  I have always been sceptical of higher learning and in the past just thought that a degree was just another piece of paper.

Now that I am involved in my degree I can't seen to get enough.  I see the results in many aspects of my career and I look forward to continuing my education through my Master's program.

I feel the same.  There is so much technology involved in law enforcement it is sometimes overwhelming.

I have gained insight from talking about issues with classmates and hearing other perspectives and solutions to the issues all of us in L.E. share

I have always believed the an education was important. This is something that I am teaching my children as well as future and younger officers. What I have learned is that I wish I would have completed this program much sooner. The skills and knowledge that I have learned from each class will play a major role in my career in the years to come. I have learned so much from my fellow students that I feel I will be a better supervisor in the future. I will look at my profession through a bigger window now.

With the various courses that I have taken at Union, I feel that I have become more critical about the decisions that supervisors and managers make at my department and I find that sometimes their decisions are not based on looking at the whole picture. This has helped me to not make some of the mistakes that they make!

After several years in law enforcement and several attempts at going back to school I have learned patience and maturity. Soon I will receive my B.S. degree and I can't even believe I am saying it. An education opens doors and humbles you. We actually do not know everything as cops and we can learn new things. Seems kind of strange.....

I agree with your statment. I too looked at a degree as only a piece of paper and didn't appreciate the education and work that went with it. Good luck!
