Ok I am kinda panicking while facing my last year at college in earning my Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice. I realized that I never minored in anything and that what I have isn't a hard science degree. All my life the one job I have always wanted is to be a civilian processing crime scenes. I don't want to be a scientist or or just someone who processes evidence. I want to be one of those civilian Crime Scene people who are there to process the crime scene and what not. But here's the thing, that seems to be a job for forensic scientists or it's done by law enforcement personnel. I hear that most Crime scene specialists are civilian and vary depending on whether a department can afford to have that position be a civilian position.

MY QUESTION IS THIS: Do I have any chance with my degree once I've completed it? It's not a hard science degree and all I had in the way of science is 8 semester hours of biology. It seems I'm screwed really and it scares me because it looks like all I can hope to be now is a warden or a cop and those aren't my dream jobs at all. Can someone tell me if my degree will mean anything to any employer in the field of evidence gathering type jobs? Am I left with no choice but to become an officer?

Don't panic, you will qualify for plenty of entry level jobs. take a look here:

http://www.dbm.maryland.gov/DBMSHARE/Job%20Specs%20Search/1417.doc

Then do a google search 'crime scene technician' but, also type in "site:gove" this will limit the returns to website from government agencies; then, go to http://www.usajobs.gov/, poke around there for a while - congrats on completing your degree and best wishes on your job search
