Throughout my time in Cal State Fullerton, I've learned a great deal. I've learned that a major in Criminal Justice has a lot of open doors. My main goal is to get my BA in CJ with a minor in Socs and hopefully find a job with Homeland Security. I'd like to work with fraud, embezzlement, and smuggling. Taking all the courses gave me an idea of what other things I could do. I've also found interest in Probation with juveniles, hence the Socs minor. Each semester I find a class that get me more interested, more motivated, and more opened minded to the different job opp. CJ has to offer.

Yea. I've had Foster for 315 last year. His class was one of my favorites. I learned a great deal and have kept his lessons in my head. His class in interesting and he's straight to the point. No bullsh*t or trick crap on his tests or papers. I liked that a lot about Foster. Wish he's teach other classes.

I learned a lot from this class. I never thought about what I would do if I was in class and I heard gun shots outside the door. I know now that I would not hesitate and I would block the door so the gun man could not get in. Before this class, I would have probably ran out to see what was happening! (stupid)

The most important thing I believe I learned from this class is that maybe becoming a police officer is not for me. I admire police officers but I have learned this is not the route for me. I am probably going to look further into becoming a Probation officer because maybe it wont be as bloody. Who knows!!! Maybe I just need to suck it up and follow my heart.

I like those qualities in Foster too. I like that he keeps it straight forward but he doesnt cross the line. I like how he told us that sometimes this line of work can mess up your family life. Foster is the real deal and I know if I had any questions he would be honest, even if it would hurt me

So far this semester, the most I have learned out of my classes are from my criminal law and the law enforcement function. I never considered myself to be in the police force, but I am thinking about it now. From the law enforcement function, I haved learned quite a bit about the police culture and what it takes to get in it. As for the other class, I could probably try out for law if I consider it thoroughly and decide that I like it. Either way, I think what I am learning this semester has given me different perspectives.

I feel the same way too; I feel that being a Criminal Justice major has opened my mind about life and the choices I make now.

I have learned numerous important factors that will definitely impact my life and decisions I make in life. I'm not so sure I will pursue a career in this industry, so that is why I'm focusing more on life. I found this course very interesting and eye opening. This class objective really makes you focus on the reality end of what is really going on in the world today and why people are who they are, and also why they commit the acts they do. This class was always hard to get into and now I know why!! :)

I think our class had an advatage to Professor Foster's previous line of work in the police force. We got to hear out his own experiences and know what really happens. Like you said, he helped opened some eyes to those who are thinking of becoming a police officer.

I have learned alot about prevention, and crime tactics. By learning about specific crimes, and who commits them, it will be very helpful in my future. I want to be a Lawyer. My thoughts about crime have changed in many ways. i know now that society is at harms way when individuals commit certain crimes. learning about theorys will be helpful, especially in a court of law.

yeah. Professor Foster class has actually taught me a lot, because a lot of the courses, dont actually apply to what I will be using in real life.  This class has taught me how important the chain of command is.  How to actually be a police office and important tatics while working.  Its also helps me that Foster uses examples from his own experiences.  It makes it easier to understand and relate. that why this class was fun.

One subject that was discussed in the class was about how important communication is.  It is very important to be a people person as a law enforcement officer, and be able to talk to people in a way to get them to respond in a way that you need them to.  I've learned that in certain situations the way that an officer handles himself and communicates with people is very important to the safety for himself/herself and the public.  Over the years I have been a supervisor who has communicated with employees and customers in a way that is very similar to a police officer.  The difference between me and an officer is that I didn't have a bullet-proof vest, a gun, or a pair of handcuffs.  So I've had to be a very very good communicater for the safetly of my employees and customers.

I agree with you.  I challenge everyone who had Foster to approach him and request that he write a book about his  true life experiences during his career!

+1.  I suggest it be called "Kicking A__ .... and sometimes taking names"

I suggested the class be changed to "kicking A__ and taking names" but Foster said sometimes you dont take names.

Even though, I' taking this class on-line, I've learned a great deal, but the only thing I would of like is to hear Mr. Foster's experiences in a class setting.  It must of been very interesting, due to the response from students. But I enjoyed the information that has provided through the course and it has help become more cautions of my personal information.  I'm become more secure with using the Internet and I find myself shredding every paper with my name on it.

Taking this course has had an impact in how need to secure my identity and to be aware in the Internet. I find this class was very interesting.  It help me understand and learn in how a computer crimes scene can provided so much information at the scene and on a suspect.  This course will help with future decision in my career.
