I have learned much from this class.  From everyday terms you hear other people talking about to how a computer system works and how to collect computer evidence.  As a detective assigned to property crimes I see every day how anonymous suspects can be when they use techology to commit there crimes.  The technology used is changing everyday and it is up to law enforcement to keep up with it.  If not the bad guys could get one step ahead of us.

Vcornejo,

I agree with you that this class has really raised my awareness as far as being careful while on the internet.   I'm amazed at how easily you can become a victim to criminal activity through electronics.  It's also raised my awareness while at crime scenes.  Now it seems I find myself looking thoroughly for possible electronic evidence.

This class is my first one at Union and It's been a valuable one.  As we go full speed ahead into this technological era, the information i've learned about computer crimes will definitely come in handy.  I'm probably 90% more capable of handling a crime scene with electronic evidence involved than I was before this class.  There's so much potential for crime to occur via electronic devices that it's crazy!  I will definitely be more careful in sharing any personal information over electronic devices.

What I have learned so far is changing my perspectives of my career.  It is actually getting me to think more like a chief than an indian.  In the 10+ years that I've been on the job, I was always happy being a beat cop.  Not anymore.  Now I'm looking at promotion so I can change things and implement some of the things that I have learned about.

GBERRY,  Your right the impact on my career has been good.  I was able to show some of the investigators what a certain term means and how it is used.

I agree with you all.  This course is so perfect to apply into the real world.  All of the topics discussed such as Cracking/Hacking/Phreaking or Stegonagraphy, are everywhere.  Before taking this class, I had no idea what these terms meant and now I can provide information to others regarding computer crime terms and technology.  Very informative course!!!!
