The University invites applications for a full-time, temporary faculty position in Criminal Justice to begin August 28, 2010 and ending June 3, 2011.
Anticipated appointment level is Instructor step 1 or 2 ($43,072.35 - $45,225.97) for the successful candidate without a terminal degree or Assistant Professor, Step 2, ($52,354.82) for the successful candidate with a terminal degree.
Responsibilities: Responsibilities include teaching a variety of undergraduate courses including: Corrections, Juvenile Delinquency, Criminology and others. Other duties include academic advising to criminal justice majors and full participation in departmental committees and activities.
Qualifications: A Ph.D. degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology or a closely related discipline is preferred. ABD status with relevant practical experience, evidence of successful undergraduate teaching experience, and evidence of topical expertise will be considered. Evidence of ability to work with undergraduate students in the discipline in academic advising capacity to facilitate their successful completion of the degree. The J.D. degree alone is not acceptable for this position. Successful applicants will have evidence of expertise and teaching experience in the topic areas.
In addition to the qualifications listed above, the successful candidate must be able to communicate well and/or perform well in an interview or teaching demonstration and successfully complete the interview process. The successful candidate will also have to complete a background investigation as a condition of employment.
